A nonprofit organization dedicated to PK-12 children and adults in Southern Indiana.
Chess offers the greatest value when accessible to everyone in the community. We aim to strengthen Southern Indiana communities by introducing chess programs—clubs, classes, camps, and tournaments—to all people at a variety of levels and fees, accomplished through productive, local partnerships; communication; and open-mindedness.
The Hoosier Chess Academy seeks to establish after-school chess clubs in at least two of a district’s K-12 schools in cities like Bloomington, Ellettsville, Martinsville, Bedford, Spencer, and Columbus; host at least ten annual tournaments for children and adults; offer chess camps at affordable price ranges spanning the entire summer; offer semi-monthly instructional sessions on chess fundamentals, tactics, strategy, and coaching training; and partner with organizations such as police and fire departments, shelters, and assisted living centers to promote the joys of chess to a wide audience.
Let’s get minds thinking critically, creatively, productively, patiently, flexibly, and confidently.
Let’s come together to put our knowledge and learning to practice.
Let’s keep children engaged and excited over the summer with weekly camps at manageable prices.
